The Darling of Anti-Aging – TAURINE

Have you ever wondered why people who consistently work out appear to look younger than they are?  Taurine is partly responsible for that!

Taurine is an essential Amino Acid in the body and newer research shows that supplementing with it improves overall health and wellness.  It is found in plants, human breast milk, seafood, and animal products.  Levels naturally decrease with age but Taurine loss is significantly accelerated with exposure to glyphosate – a chemical that is abundant throughout the land and in our food supply!  As our Taurine levels decrease in the body our disease processes proliferate! Lower Taurine levels are associated with abdominal obesity, metabolic syndrome, aging, high blood pressure, inflammation and pain, retinal detachment, diabetes, low ATP function and liver disease.

How do we increase our Taurine levels?  Short bursts of exercise will naturally boost our blood concentrations of Taurine.  We are meant to move our bodies!  Supplementing with Taurine vastly improves our health outcomes.   A recent Columbia study showed that Taurine supplementation increases median life span by 10-12%.  This is remarkable news!

Taurine has an overall positive effect on heart health, brain function, muscle integrity and bone density, DNA protection, mitochondrial health and energy production and is significant in fetal development and immune function.  It has been shown to reduce metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.  Taurine has been shown to stimulate stem cell production which is significant for nerve, brain and spinal cord.

In short, a deficiency in Taurine drives aging and disease.  Supplementing with Taurine leads to a longer and healthier life.  We suggest using 1,000mg a day.  Higher amounts may be needed for specific clinical applications.  For more information on Taurine, we suggest listening to the Dr. Ardis Show from 4/17/24 on Taurine.
